We have a special item up for sale that might interest you - an exceptional 2002 Writers Series Montblanc Francis Scott Fitzgerald Fountain Pen Limited Edition 8323/18500. It has never been used and is in pristine condition, along with its original inner and outer boxes, and International Service Certificate literature. This fountain pen has never been inked, is considered New Old Stock, and is in Mint Condition.
The roaring twenties were the age of extravagance and Art Deco. The people of its jazz age generation had a ball with the Charleston and champagne – and F. Scott Fitzgerald was their idol. Although Fitzgerald enjoyed the high-society life, in his outstanding works such as “The Great Gatsby” and “This Side of Paradise” he drew a subtle psychological portrait of the hedonistic America of the 1920s, which allowed the inescapable tragedy beneath the glittering surface to show through. The Writers Edition F. Scott Fitzgerald revives the glamour of the "Roaring Twenties". The shimmering white barrel forms a striking contrast to the black precious resin cap, which is decorated by the signature of F. Scott Fitzgerald. Dignified tribute is paid to the origins of the legendary Art Deco style by the delicately engraved 1920s urban skyline that decorates the rhodium-plated 18-karat gold nib.
The cap and barrel are in perfect condition with no cracks, nicks, or repairs. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. The Montblanc Snowcap logo is secure on top of the cap. The hallmarked Sterling Silver trim is excellent and has been polished to shine brightly. The fountain pen measures 5 1/2" capped and 6" posted. This F. Scott Fitzgerald Fountain Pen is a limited edition number, "8323 of 18500".
This Montblanc fountain pen uses a piston filling system I have tested with water and works as it was designed to. I have taken apart the piston to clean and grease it along with cleaning the inside of the barrel. The piston works as it should and smoothly. Additionally, when removing the piston and nib from the pen, there were never any traces of ink. I have concluded the fountain pen has never been inked and is in Mint condition.
The 18-karat, rhodium-plate nib has an urban Art Deco skyline and is marked. "4810, 18K/750, Montblanc Logo, 2002, MONTBLANC". This nib is designated as a MEDIUM and the point measures .74mm when using digital calipers.
The original boxes and Montblanc literature accompany this fountain pen.
This Montblanc F. Scott Fitzgerald Fountain Pen is a very stunning writing instrument crafted in Germany. I would consider this Montblanc Limited Edition Fountain Pen is in Never Inked, Mint Condition. The design of this fountain pen in the Torpedo/Streamlined shape really makes a statement and lends itself to an era when this design of pens was becoming more popular for the discerning writing instrument user. This is a splendid addition to your Montblanc Writers Series arsenal collection.
